PageSpeed / Load Speed

Definition

Page load speed describes how quickly a website becomes visible and usable after it is loaded. It depends, among other things, on the size of images, scripts, and fonts, as well as on the server’s response time. Slow pages frustrate visitors and increase the risk that they will leave the site. Tools like Google PageSpeed Insights assign a score. This score evaluates performance based on defined metrics and does not correspond to the actual load time in seconds. In its ranking, Google takes into account the Core Web Vitals: three metrics for load time, responsiveness to user input, and layout stability during loading.
